About the Trust
What is the Mariposa TrustThe Mariposa Trust (also known as Saying Goodbye) is a Charity that was officially established in 2013, however the work of the trust started in 2012. It has been set-up to oversee and steer various projects and divisions including Saying Goodbye, GrowingYou, Holding Hope and Waiting for You. The primary function of the charity is to support anyone who have been affected by the loss of a child at any stage of pregnancy, at birth or in infancy. This is provided through remembrance services at Cathedrals and Minsters, (62 to the end of 2015), and via a support service, which reaches in excess of 50,000 people each week globally. Additionally the trust is working with Government and Health Professionals to improve the care and support of people pre, during and post baby loss. The Trust is led by the founders Zoe and Andy Clark-Coates, who are Trustee/Directors, and they are supported by a wonderful set of trustees and an international team, who assist in coordinating the work of the charity across the UK and worldwide. Saying Goodbye was originally established as a not-for-profit division of CCEM (the events business run by Zoe and Andy), but as it grew, it has become a charity in it's own right. CCEM continue to be involved in the charities work, organising all of the services and events for the charity.
The Trust has been established to provide services and support for people who have lost children at any stage of pregnancy, at birth, or in infancy, be it last week or 60-years ago, and to achieve this the trusts aims are as follows:
- Create Remembrance Services that allow people to grieve in a supportive environment
- Create a comprehensive support structure, allowing people to access the support they need
- Improve the care and support of anyone going through loss
- Change the taboo nature of baby loss, allowing for more open discussion, acceptance and support
